I like doing system administrator work on my personal servers as well as configuring various home automations. This lets me play with a variety of technologies in the freedom of my own environment. When I’m not working on things around the house, I enjoy playing video games. My favorites are simulation or management games like Factorio or Cities Skylines, but I enjoy others as well.
I don’t necessarily have a favorite movie or show, but I am definitely a fan of shows and movies like Stargate-SG1 or The Expanse. If I were to pick a favorite genre, it would probably be sci-fi action.
One of my happier memories is when I took a trip to Washington, D.C. with my now wife for engagement photos. It was a gorgeous day, and we were able to get a lot of good outdoor photos as well as spend a large portion of the day around the D.C. mall area afterwards.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut. Space has always fascinated me and had my interest. While I may never get to go to space, things are certainly getting exciting again with private companies now having and expanding access to space and the planned return to the moon.
Usually, I am woken up by a phone alarm followed by caffeine. If it’s a week that I’m on-call for our customers, I may be alerted by a phone call. I guess it can be summed up as, “Necessity gets me up in the morning.” I’m already somewhat of a morning person (compared to non-morning people, anyways) which helps me start my day well.
At my last job, I felt like I wasn’t progressing like I should have been. A co-worker at the time was hired at Synergy and recommended me for a position. I figured I had nothing to lose and submitted my application to Synergy. The change has definitely been for the best, both professionally and personally. Synergy has a bigger focus on keeping employees happy and has continued to expand that focus during my time here.
