Marketing Technician
Since joining Synergy at the start of 2020 as a graphic designer and marketing technician, Mirais has focused her efforts on website maintenance, the design of graphics, and improvement of our customers’ user experience.
Every year at Synergy, we host a company picnic to gather our team members and their families together for some relaxing time outside of work. Besides seeing old friends and colleagues, we had the chance to meet several brand-new employees, some of whom began working with Synergy that very day! Because Synergy operates primarily remotely, gathering in person like this allowed Synergists to put faces to the names of coworkers who we may have only seen before in an email thread or on Microsoft Teams. We even had the pleasure of sharing company with several out-of-state employees who flew in to spend the day with the team.
The picnic was held at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, VA, and there was something fun for everyone. Synergists and their families enjoyed warm autumn weather near a spacious, shaded pavilion while catching up and playing games like cornhole, volleyball, and frisbee. A large moonbounce was set up near the pavilion so children could have fun while their parents were talking. Many stuck around to chat with one another until the sun was beginning to set and the evening started to get chilly.
Naturally, the food was a big highlight of the picnic—after all, what’s a great event without a tasty spread of snacks? The event was catered by Saint Germain Catering, a small women-owned business who brought a variety of entrees. Hamburgers, chicken burgers, veggie burgers, and hot dogs were all available, as well as a range of side dishes like mac and cheese, corn on the cob, and more. A large table stacked with sweets was available for dessert, as well as custom Synergy-themed cookies handmade by one of our own Synergists, Stephanie Simonds (owner of Katie Kakes Design). Leftover food from the catering was taken to local shelters by a few of our team members who volunteered for and led the effort.
As a fun way of expressing gratitude for the team, raffle tickets were provided to all present Synergists. After lunch, raffle prizes were announced and given out, including items such as an Amazon Kindle, Fitbit, North Face backpack, Polaroid Camera, and more.
We thank our HR team for putting together such a fun and relaxing event for the company and their families, and we thank our team for showing up and sharing conversation and a meal with one another!
