Susan Hammons

Contract Program Manager

As Contract Program Manager, Susan Hammons leads the USDA contract team, delivering a comprehensive range of professional services. These include applications development, operations and maintenance, help desk services, IT architectural and strategic consulting, enterprise SaaS development and support, project and program management, business management, infrastructure support, learning management system support, enterprise geospatial management support, and IT security. Susan is dedicated to providing agile technology solutions that enhance the operational effectiveness of the USDA Mission Areas and their over 60 federal agency customers.

Before her current role, Susan played a pivotal role as the leader of the team that successfully delivered a modernized contract writing system MVP in July 2023 for the US Army. This project involved significant collaboration with the Air Force, utilizing and adapting the CON-IT baseline system for the Army, hosted with the Defense Logistics Agency.

Prior to joining Synergy, Susan served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Kansas State Office of Information Technology Services, where she provided vital technology and professional services to state agency customers.

In the early stages of her career, Susan worked in the commercial sector as VP of IT, leading a custom software development team. Her team developed and supported proprietary solutions for various industries including insurance administration, quick service restaurant and hotel accounting and payroll, steel mill manufacturing, and medical billing.

Susan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Washburn University and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®).
